ADOPT A PLATOON! Welcome to the adopt a platoon page, The Journey is taking the initative in this one to comit to pray for a platoon and put together support packages to mail out once a month to 1-111th INF which is part of the PA Guard and is currently stationed in Iraq. Some of you might be wondering how this all got started, well if you look at the back row (the standing row) the fourth one in from the right with the shaved head is Tyler's friend Chad who went to PBU with him. Tyler was looking for an opportunity to share the love of Christ with more than just his friend in Iraq, so after a few conversations the plans were set. The packages are mailed out to Chad who then will distribute to the rest of his platoon. We are not asking that you give every month but we are asking that you consistently be praying for the platoon as well as all the soldiers, sailors, marines and airforce currently stationed in Iraq. The collections for mailing out packages will be collected every third Sunday of the month during the service and will be sent out the following week. There is a list to the right for ideas about what to add in the package. Also, remember to write a small card, or even just a "thank you" and "be safe" on a note card. This is a great opportunity to share the love of Christ when men who you have never met before, this is a way we can share our faith and pray for their safety as well as pray for their family members here at home. If you have any questions please e-mail The Journey. |
